Stefan is an Austrian born artist. Originally trained as an Architect, his work now focuses on the convergence and correlation of the embodied mind and technology. By exploring ways to express the distant intimacies and equivocal relationships between our flesh and digital matter, he seeks to uncover the potential of technology as an auratic medium. The underlying assumption from his MFA research is that synaesthetic effects are caused by an interplay of visceral, proprioceptive, and interoceptive sensations; which he aims to trigger with a computational system and algorithmic haptic images. Through employing methods of repetition, recursion, generative logic, as well as of serial, parallel or asynchronous computing, his work aims to establish personal technological relationships as another kind of cultural knowledge.
